Description
This is the most common of the pubicalyx group. This species grows very well and fast. It has green leaves with splashes of silver. The silver marks on the leaves turn pinkish-silver when exposed with more light and sun. The flowers are fragrant
and are similar to the H. carnosa, but more of a marooncolor with a pink center. It’s originally from The Philippines.
Keep this hoya about 40°, but it can handle frost for short periods of time.
The Pink Silver Harlequin Waxflower or Hoya makes an extremely easy, vigorous, and rewarding indoor, porch, or patio plant. The large thick deep green foliage is heavily speckled with silver and it produces large clusters of waxy dark pink to burgundy lightly fragrant star-shaped flowers. The new growth and vines are often burgundy colored and this Hoya can be grown as a climber on a small trellis or it makes a fantastic hanging basket specimen.
