Description

About the Plant

Mint Julep® Juniper is an evergreen shrub with beautiful mint-green foliage and gracefully arching branches. It has a soft, fountain-like shape that makes it useful both as a specimen plant and as part of a larger landscape planting.
It keeps its foliage throughout the year, giving the garden structure and color even during winter. Monrovia describes it as particularly useful for borders, mass plantings, naturalized areas and formal gardens.
Monrovia lists the natural mature size at approximately 6 ft. tall × 8 ft. wide and recommends full sun. Monrovia
Where It Works Best
I especially like this juniper for:
– Foundation planting
– Evergreen borders
– Entry gardens
– Rock gardens
– Slopes and banks
– Low informal hedges
– Topiary
– Year-round structure in the garden
Its arching habit also gives it a softer appearance than many upright conifers.

Care

Plant Mint Julep Juniper in well-drained soil in a sunny location. It does not like consistently wet soil.
Water deeply and regularly during its first growing season while it establishes its roots. Once established, watering can be reduced. Monrovia recommends applying a slow-release fertilizer before new spring growth and pruning as needed to maintain the desired shape. Monrovia

Why I Like It

The color and shape are what make this juniper special.
The fresh mint-green foliage is particularly attractive against darker evergreens, stone, mulch and other garden plants. Its graceful arching branches also give it a more relaxed, natural appearance than a strictly upright evergreen.
